About the event

Sharing Vā Spaces-navigating through a sea of egos

The concept of vā is about sharing space with others. The vā doesn’t discriminate on race, sexuality, or social status and doesn't have favourites! Vā is about understanding the space you share with those around you The way I work with all people groups in whatever setting is always through my cultural lens, my upbringing, my beliefs, and my values. The heartbeat of that is outworked in the vā. I truly believe and stand firm that the vā can’t be translated into a European/palagi framework, likewise a Māori or any indigenous culture. All these are only TRUE to the culture that it is birthed from. We can never forget that! In order to understand the vā, you need to live and breathe it. It has to become part of your life flow. “To own and shape your space is inspirational, but to share it with others is truly a gift” Working through an indigenous lens
